The future of Germany is microchips | tech lover 360

Global Foundries is an American company that has been producing high-tech microchips in the Eastern German city of Silicon Saxony since 2009. However, it is not just a unique company; it has been a hub for semiconductor production in Eastern Germany alongside ZMD and Robotron companies, hence the environment and workforce were already present for this industry.

Global Foundries also has production sites in Dresden Germany, Singapore, and the United States.

Microchips will play a significant role in the future of Dresden Germany.

The value of one factory can go up to five billion euros. The semiconductor industry is currently under political spotlight as many countries are competing for control of the chip sector. Countries whose economies rely on microchips are providing funds and subsidies for this industry, and Europe has not yet been able to catch up with these initiatives.

Global Foundries, Infineon, and Bosch have chosen the Silicon Saxony location, and under the European Chips Act, a fund of 43 billion euros will be provided so that more companies can start production soon. This policy will strengthen the semiconductor industry and is Europe's response to subsidy wars, allowing them to compete with other parts of the world.

The Singaporean company is preparing to start producing sensors for semiconductor equipment here soon, and Infineon is planning to set up a new chip factory.

Taiwanese market leader TSMC has currently halted construction of a new plant in Dresden. Semiconductor design companies, including racyics, are eyeing international graduates from the Technical University of Dresden for education, hoping that this region will become a hub for the chip industry.

In Dresden, Global Foundries are design companies, and they are designing new technology here in collaboration with startups and Galaxy Semiconductors. Therefore, Silicon Saxony can currently offer a wide range of employment opportunities, which are related to various sectors.

Germany wants to attract more young professionals to this eastern region who can work and settle here. This way, Dresden's Germany position within Silicon Saxony will improve, and it can succeed in the global semiconductor industry.
